Down Under School of Yoga Boston

The Down Under School of Yoga Boston has studios all over the area, but their South End Location became the best place in the city to find their toddler yoga series. Every semester, the school offers sessions designated for kids ages 3-6. During these courses, your child will be led through songs, games, and movements that teach the yoga asana practice. While the classes are built to be completely fun, your child will have some reflection time at the end so they can get centered. The courses last for 11 weeks.

Coolidge Yoga

Coolidge Yoga provides in-person yoga courses for your toddler in Boston as well as free online yoga classes. The studio works around the city to show families the benefits of getting kids started early on their yoga journey. Their youngest class starts with ages 5-7 and incorporates lots of fun games into every class. Once your child gets a little older, you can enroll them in their Yogi Sprouts course for kids 8-10 or their Tween Yoga for students 11-13. Throughout their time, your child will be encouraged to use imagery and props to find brand-new ways to express themselves. The class stays pretty high-energy with music, rhythms, and movements.

Artemis Yoga

Artemis Yoga works with young yogis to build up their confidence so they can feel comfortable coming to the mat for years to come. The center offers drop-in classes as well as enrollment courses. You can sign up kids ages 5-10 for in-studio options that last 6-7 weeks. The best thing about this studio is they don’t want the adults to miss out on all the fun! They offer engaging family classes where you’ll improve your practice while getting to hang out with your favorite people. They also offer mother-daughter yoga for kids ages 10-14.

On The Mat

Since 1989, Tara Rachel Jones has been working with children to provide them with professional guidance for toddler yoga in Boston. Over the years, she’s developed her own approach, which combines philosophy with movement to offer an education unlike any other. Today, she brings her expertise to On The Mat to provide seasonal family classes for children ages 3-10. You’ll be able to find age-appropriate classes that teach kids foundational skills while keeping the practice exciting. Drop-in options are available. There are also classes specifically for teens that will encourage them to reduce stress and anxiety while helping them build up strength.

Buddhaful Kids Yoga

A self-proclaimed “kid at heart,” Mary Kaye Chryssicas has spent over 15 years working with families and helping them figure out how to use yoga to slow down and reconnect. She currently provides classes at her studio for kids ages 6-18. She has specifically created these classes to combat anxiety and help kids get rid of the self-doubt that’s all too common at this age. You’ll be able to find age-appropriate classes that will get your child moving. You can book Mary Kaye for a private lesson or for birthday parties. She’s also there to lead classes at sports practices for some cross-training. 

South Shore Conservatory

For years, South Shore Conservatory has offered families a center where they can dive into the arts. The center offers music, dance, and creative arts therapy. The yoga classes are taught by Sarah Gilbert, an instructor dedicated to teaching yoga to every person. She designed her kids’ classes to be accessible to children of all abilities after her own child was born with Down Syndrome in 2006. Her Yoga for the Special Child is a perfect option for any yogi, no matter your child’s level or background. Sarah offers both private and group courses.
