The early years of your child’s life are the most important for their development. Your little one is constantly taking in the world around them. Everything from the books they read to the places they explore is planting the seeds in their education. One of the best ways to ensure your child gets the most out of this season is to sign them up for a Boston preschool that will suit their learning style.

By finding one that fits your family, you can ensure your child is completely ready once it’s time for kindergarten. If you’ve been looking for the best Boston preschools, I’d love to tell you about six I think you’ll love!

6 Boston Preschools Encouraging Growth & Development Through Engaging Programs & Play

Beacon Hill Nursery School

Beacon Hill Nursery School provides care starting from the preschool stage and going all the way through to junior kindergarten. The preschool program is available for kids who will be 2.9 before the school year begins. Five days a week, your child will attend morning classes designed to get them acclimated to the school setting. You’ll have the additional option to enroll them in the extended day program.

The school relies on small class sizes and engaging environments so each child can receive a personalized education. The classrooms feature sensory areas that allow your child to use their senses to learn. They’ll have access to a dramatic play area and an arts area. And while children can explore for themselves, the teachers use guided investigations to invite them into the lessons. The school’s primary goal is to use self-directed play to build up your child’s development.

Our Future Learning Center

Our Future Learning Center allows children to learn, sing, read, color, and dance. This unique preschool takes up the entire third story of a storied brick building. On top of its learning center, the school has a private outdoor playground and a 5,000-square-foot indoor gym. Your child will have plenty of opportunities to play and explore. The school makes it easy on parents by providing a designated drop-off zone, plenty of parking spots, and an elevator.

Our Future Learning Center provides preschool programs lasting two to three days or five days a week. They also offer single-day drop-ins depending on vacancy. The classes provide age-appropriate lessons for children starting at eight weeks. As your child enters preschool, the school will ensure they feel equipped for kindergarten. Your child will start their education while building up meaningful friendships!

Children’s Happy Day School

Children’s Happy Day School has classrooms for kids ages 2.0-6. For over 30 years, the school has excelled at providing children with a safe place to prepare for elementary school. The school’s founder, Ms. Helen Rafiy, continues to work to curate a space where children can learn and play. Her dedication and experience shine through every corner of the school.

Your child can start at CHDS when they’re 2 with the school’s P1 classroom. You’ll be able to choose between full-day and half-day programs and will send your child in 2-5 times a week. Your child will learn from a curriculum rich with information and global awareness while at school. From Spanish lessons to calming yoga classes, the school focuses on lessons that will engage your child’s natural sense of curiosity. As your child ages, they’ll begin to have more focused lessons that mature with them. Your child will get out all their energy on the Boston preschool’s private playground between lessons.

Spruce Street Nursery School

Spruce Street Nursery School has created a space for children and their families to grow together. The daily lessons are focused on encouraging your child to use creative thinking to learn. The school invites parents to get involved as much as possible. Parent volunteers assist the teachers throughout the day, while parent-teacher gatherings encourage you to get connected with the Spruce Street community.

The school has an average of 2:10 student-teacher ratio. They offer ten afterschool enrichment activities that let your child explore various interests. The daily programs last for 4.5 hours, but you can also choose an extended day program. The school accepts children starting at the age of 2.0. Younger programs meet 2-3 days a week, while the older students can come in 2-5 times a week. When your child finishes junior kindergarten, they’ll feel confident about elementary school!

Transportation Children’s Center

Transportation Children’s Center was founded nearly 40 years ago as a space where Department of Transportation employees could send their children for exceptional childcare. Today, the center continues prioritizing spots for the children of the Department of Transportation and state employees. Still, it is more than happy to accept the general public. The school accepts children ages 3 months-5 years. They offer a mixed toddler preschool classroom as well as two preschool programs. They provide full-day classes and allow you to send your child every day or a few days a week.

The school uses The Creative Curriculum to teach your child using engaging hands-on lessons. Your child will get to learn exciting lessons that teach them about cultures, math, literacy, and science. Throughout the day, they’ll relax on the outdoor playground and find different activities that get them excited to come to school each day.

Old South Preschool

Old South Preschool provides a stunning space inside Boston’s Copley Square. While the school was founded by members of the Old South Church in the 1940s, the school is non-religious and welcomes children of all backgrounds. The school prides itself on being an affordable option for Boston’s families. Their mission is for every child to get the best head start possible! The preschool is available for children ages 2-5.

At Old South, they use experimental learning to let children learn in their own way. They encourage the kids to ask questions and engage in the world surrounding them. On top of their regular learning times, the school hosts frequent excursions. Your child will get the chance to explore playgrounds, museums, and nature. By the end of your child’s time at the school, they will have gained a sense of independence and a love of knowledge.
