Childbirth education classes are offered at several hospitals affiliated with Harvard Vanguard OBGYN. Childbirth education classes teach moms what to expect during labor and delivery, relaxation and breathing techniques to use during labor, options for pain relief during labor, infant feeding practices, standard hospital procedures, and, sometimes, a tour of the hospital.
Breastfeeding support is offered through Atrius Health and is ideal for first-time parents, especially those who want to learn more about breastfeeding basics. They cover everything from ensuring your little one is getting enough milk to troubleshooting common problems such as clogged ducts or sore nipples.
One of the best parts of using Harvard Vanguard OBGYN is that we have access to many locations, with many providers who deliver babies at many different hospitals. There are many convenient locations that doctors deliver at, including Newton-Wellesley Hospital and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. At Atrius Health, us moms have access to both OBGYNs and certified nurse-midwives who work together to meet our unique needs and preferences.
Medical technology has made it easier for us to use less invasive surgical procedures to alleviate many gynecological issues. These include abnormal bleeding, endometriosis, pelvic pain, prolapse, ovarian cysts, urinary incontinence, and uterine fibroids. Procedures include laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, and robot-assisted surgery. Many surgeries can be done as outpatient procedures, requiring no hospital stay. These procedures are usually faster and have less discomfort than traditional surgical methods. So a recovery becomes much easier on us, which is vital when we have little ones running around.
