About the Learning Express in Newton
1296 Centre St, Newton Center, Massachusetts 02459
Like most great things, Learning Express in Newton all started with a mom. In 1982, Sharon DiMinico was pregnant and planning her daughter’s nursery. As she started thinking of all the toys her child would one day adore, she decided she wanted to seek out educational products that would make learning fun. In 1987, Sharon was the acting president of the Groton Community School as the center looked for ways to stabilize their tuition. She presented her Learning Express business plan as a fundraising idea to the board, and they quickly agreed. With that, the first Learning Express location was born.
While they were opening the first physical location, Sharon learned more about franchising and decided to work to make her store accessible to parents across the country. Today, there are over 80 stores across 27 states. The company remains privately owned with a commitment to stocking toys built to aid your child in their development. Each brand is carefully considered to ensure they’ll help your child learn through play. The Newton location is an independent franchise that offers friendly employees as well as gift-wrapping.
Products
Learning Express Newton makes it easy to find toys for every kid in your life. When you shop online, the entire store is broken up by age and interests. You can simply select the applicable fields and instantly be taken to a number of products your child will love. While the website might have the convenience factor, I personally love stopping at their physical location so I can see everything in person. Not only will you get a hands-on view of the products, but you can work with a knowledgeable employee who will help you find exactly what you’re looking for.
The shop is stocked with brands you love, as well as new companies destined to become your family’s next favorite. There are LEGO sets, including the beloved DUPLO options. You can build the N-1 Starfighter Microfighter from The Mandalorian or create the city from Disney’s movie Wish. There are Marvel sets, Harry Potter sets, Minecraft sets and James Bond sets. They even sell the popular LEGO adult botanical series, so you can create an orchid that you don’t have to worry about withering.
If your child isn’t ready for LEGO, check out their selection of Fat Brain Toys. This beloved brand was developed to invite kids to build up developmental skills while having unending fun. Your toddler can learn about cause-and-effect with their Tugl Cube or play pretend with their doctor set. There are teethers that will help them grow their chompers or light-up rattles that will keep them happy in their high chair as you make dinner. Older kids can find the perfect Squishmallow animal to snuggle up with. Their selection of Calico Critters gives kids of all ages a great way to indulge their imaginations, and their Hot Wheels sets are ideal for racing down the hall.
